It's always "seeing's believing" with highway work in Hertfordshire but the Grove Road, Tring, repairs are still scheduled as "some time in the 6 months beginning 1st October".

Road Closure 30th October at the Tringford Road, Tring Canal Bridge
SURVEY WORK ON TRINGFORD ROAD BRIDGE, TRING Today 30th October Tringford Road Bridge and its approaches may be closed for sometime today to allow detailed survey work to be carried. This is with a view to proposing the installation of light controlled traffic management and other measure to improve the safety of road users, including pedestrians and cyclists. Hertfordshire County Council apologises for any temporary inconvenience.

To be fair there are several different approaches to making short-distance suburban rail services quieter, greener, less polluting and more efficient. Most involve batteries or fuel cells and relatively short routes. However, this is one which caught my eye recently.

A Black Night for the Tories Last Thursday as they Lost Every One of the Six Seats they were Defending on Principal Councils
Including of course the Liberal Democrat's spectacular win in Dacorum's Northchurch Ward with a 36% swing, the Tories actually lost all of the six council seats they were defending that night. This is symptomatic of their steady decline as a viable political party.
