Green Bowlers see Red

There is a proposal to close the bowling green at Eldon Square recreation centre. Residents of East Gosforth who are members of the club approached Councillor Henry Gallagher at his monthly surgery to discuss the matter.

Extra help from Pupil Premium welcomed

Councillor Brenda Hindmarsh, councillor for Fawdon Ward, has welcomed the rise in the pupil premium for disadvantaged children in England's schools, which this coming school year will be worth £600 per pupil, up from £488. It already benefits Newcastle schools by over £4 million this year.

Letting Boards: On their way out?

After a lot of pressure from councillors and residents the Council will be applying to the Government for a Regulation 7 direction. If this is granted, there will be no automatic right for Agents to put up "To Let" boards in North Jesmond.

Former Gregg's Factory - Brown-Field Housing Bid

As most of you know Gregg's have all but moved out of the industrial estate at the end ofChriston Rdin Gosforth. All of the East Gosforth Councillors met with the Gregg's CEO and his management team to discuss future use. We were all in agreement that the preferred option would be for the site to be used for new affordable housing. We asked for a study of the site to assess the feasibility of this course of action.
