Conservative-controlled Cheshire County Council have forced through a tough budget this year. The Council Tax has gone up by 4.94% (an extra £45 a year for a band D property.)
Congleton Liberal Democrats have placed candidates in every vacancy in Congleton Borough. This includes two Town Council vacancies in Congleton North caused by dismissal of absentee councillors.
After a number of complaints about the incomplete crossing on Clayton By-Pass and the treacherous road crossing, Simon has held a meeting with the regional manager for Tesco, who committed themselves to building the crossing as part of their Congleton store. After pushing them, Simon has established that the new crossing will be open withing two months.

Rubble, concrete and litter are strewn across the verges and it is getting worse as the building work continues. It is unsightly not just for the new residents but also those living in the area. It is also the first sight anyone sees arriving in Congleton from Macclesfield or Manchester.
