Great News for Bedford Academy

I am delighted that the Bedford Academy was included by the government amongst the schools listed previously as 'for discussion' which will receive funding for the projects planned under the Building Schools for the Future programme. The Academy will replace John Bunyan Upper School, of course, and as John Bunyan's Chair of Governors and the former former Ward Councillor for Kingsbrook, not to mention a local resident, I know the community very well. I am therefore aware of just how important the investment in the education of current and future generations of young people in the area will be.

NatWest Community Fund - Nominations for Shepway Charities Open

NatWest are running a community fund to support local charities and community projects. Applications close on 20 August, with £5,000 available for each local area. The charity/project that receives the most votes will be awarded £3,000 with the two runners up each receiving £1,000. The voting period will open in October.

Good News for Stockton Borough's Academies

Liberal Democrats on Stockton Council have welcomed the news from the Government that they will provide money for new buildings for two academies already planned - for North Shore Health Academy in Stockton and Thornaby Academy.
