14% swing from Tories to Lib Dems in Bromley and Chislehurst

There was a massive 14% swing from Conservative to Liberal Democrat in the Bromley and Chislehurst by-election. The Tories have retained what used to be their 17th safest seat by a margin of just 633. It is significant that at the same time Labour dropped from second place to fourth, behind UKIP. It is clear that as disillusioned voters turn away from Tony Blair and New Labour, it is the Liberal Democrats to whom they are turning - not David Cameron and his New Tories.

I went to Bromley to help Ben Abbotts and although he missed out on victory by the narrowest of margins he fought an excellent campaign, we will be looking to replicate the swing in Wolverhampton at the next General Election."
