Matthew Taylor to Stand Down at Next General Election

On the eve of his 20th anniversary Liberal Democrat MP Matthew Taylor has today announced that, after two decades in the Truro & St Austell seat, he will not be fighting the next General Election. Mr Taylor has announced that he will be standing down in order to devote himself to his family, following the birth of his son Arthur last November.

Missing Etchinghill girl found

The BBC report that the 12-year-old girl who disappeared from her school in Saltwood has been found "safe and well". Jasmine Thomson, from Etchinghill, failed to return home after leaving Brockhill Park School in Saltwood at 11.30 am on Tuesday.

Surrey's waste being tipped in Epsom

The extent of domestic waste from outside the Borough being brought to Epsom's waste site has outraged Town ward councillors. Figures for the last 9 months show that for every 100 tonnes of local waste, another 160 tonnes is added from other parts of Surrey. Lib Dem Cllr Julie Morris is horrified that over 60% of the Juggernauts and Dust-carts coming down Hook Road to the refuse site on Blenheim Road are not necessary for handling local waste. "Why should Epsom's narrow residential roads suffer from extra lorries bringing waste from Tandridge, Reigate & Banstead, Mole Valley and Elmbridge?" she asked.
