Fox Backs 'Swindon Stop' Campaign

Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate Paul Fox took part in the 'Swindon March' this weekend as part of an ongoing campaign to halt the spread of the town into rural North Wiltshire. Paul has been a long-time supporter of the campaign and was delighted to be able to take part in the march which he has now done for two years running.

Sir Menzies Campbell Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrats today visited the West Midlands as part of the Liberal Democrat Leader's Tour today. Charles Kennedy is having a couple of days paternity leave and Sir Menzies Campbell had stepped in to take over his duties.

Congleton Residents to Bag their Batteries

Batteries from toys, radios and other electrical equipment will soon have to bagged and not binned by Congleton residents in a bid to increase recycling levels. Britain's poor record on recycling is set to be given another push forward by new EU proposals for the recovery of old batteries.

MEETING OF MINDS AT MAYBURY CENTRE

Members of the ethnic minorities were invited to a meeting at the Maybury Centre on Wednesday April 13th to discuss the issues that concern them, the needs of their community and what they want for Woking. A full meeting room listened to Dr Anne Lee speak and addressed questions to a panel including Borough Councillors and County Council Candidates. The audience included senior members of several communities and they quizzed Anne closely on Liberal Democrat policies over policing, health services and public transport.

A succession of top names including Charles Kennedy and Simon Hughes are set to visit our area in the coming weeks to back Peter Carroll's campaign. Other star names include Baroness Shirley Williams and top Agony Aunt Claire Rayner.

Langley Vale re-think

It's back to the drawing board for Langley Vale Road traffic calming. Councillors from all parties representing this Epsom Downs village (including Woodcote ward by-election winner Lionel Blackman) have jointly agreed to ask SCC highways engineers to re-consider their plans.
