Welsh Group St Davids Day Dinner

Chiltern Welsh Group Celebrates St David's Day.

Clwb Cymraeg Ardal Chiltern is a self-organised Welsh language reading and conversational class that has been meeting in Leighton Buzzard on term-time Tuesday evenings for 30 years - first at the Riverside Centre and lately in the Leighton Buzzard Theatre and Library Building. The group is a mix of Welsh-speaking English members and first language Welsh speakers. The meetings are a mix of conversation, grammar and discussions about Welsh media articles, both printed and radio. The group also reads modern Welsh literature and is currently reading "Y Bwythyn" by Caryl Lewis. If you are reasonably proficient in Welsh conversation you would be welcome to join us. It was all set to be electrified - but then the Tories put the brakes on and the stopped this much needed project. Now it has been, in the jargon, "unpaused" and the Transport Secretary is allowing work to restart - but much more slowly than before.

A Successful Liberal Democrat Conference in Brighton

Like many delegates Nick and Rosemarie from Tring combined participation in the Liberal Democrat Conference with visits to rellies and a short holiday. They went down by train - taking a car to Brighton is a crazy thing to do - stayed in a convenient sea front hotel and had some excellent meals.

Tyne and Wear Stadler Vehicles

Nice for the North East - but couldn't Light Rail also solve Hertfordshire's East-West Connectivity Problems?

Nexus, the public body which owns and operates the Tyne & Wear Metro, announced today (12th February, 2020) that the Swiss company Stadler, had been awarded a £362m contract to build 42 new trains for the network between now and 2024. The trains will be built in a recently-opened factory in St Margrethen, Switzerland, but 30 UK companies would be involved in supplying parts and components - half of them being in the North East.
