Swindon Hospital Open Day

If your idea of a good day out is a visit to a General Hospital there's an Open Day at the Great Western on Saturday 17th September from 10.00am to 3.00pm. You'll get the chance to take a look behind the scenes, meet staff and find out more about their work through a range of displays and stands. There will also be entertainment and activities for children.

Volunteers rescue libraries

When Wiltshire Council threatened to shut or cut back on the county's libraries, scores of people came forward to protect them. However there are still some changes to opening hours so regular users are advised to check the new timetable which begins on Monday.

Cllr. Richard Whitehouse launches petitions for a ban on drinks in local open spaces

Cllr Richard Whitehouse has launched two petitions for drink bans on two of our open spaces. In July it was announced that Cllr Richard Whitehouse was to have meetings with the police about drink bans on three areas of the ward: Springvale Park, Kossuth Road/Hurst Hill open space and the fields behind Hilton Hall, Hilton Road. In order to get an order he needed the support of the police because an order that is unenforceable lessens the value of others.
