POST OFFICE CLOSURES TO HIT LOCAL VILLAGES

Trade Secretary Alistair Darling has confirmed that about 2,500 post offices - a fifth of those left in the UK - are to close by 2009. Mr Darling said the current loss-making network was "unsustainable" and pointed out four million fewer customers were using post offices every week than two years ago and it was losing £4m a week. The Lib Dems have called for an additional £2bn investment in the Post Office that would create a thriving network.

WHAT DOES OUR MP THINK?

A crucial debate in the House of Commons on Friday afternoon and WHERE WAS ROBERT GOODWILL? MP for Scarborough and Whitby, Robert Goodwill did not vote in the Freedom of Information (Amendment) Bill. He was registered as absent and I for one would like to know how he would have voted had he been in the house.
