Farron attacks Foot and Mouth statement: "It's not enough!"

Tim Farron, Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Hill Farming and DEFRA Select Committee member has attacked Hilary Benn's Commons statement which announced a package of support for beleaguered farmers. Mr Farron, who last week called for the Hill Farm Allowance budget to be doubled, stated that the £8.5m in support that the Secretary of State announced was welcome, but nowhere near sufficient.

Farron lists Pre-Budget Report demands for South Lakeland

Local MP, Tim Farron has issued three demands to the new Chancellor of the Exchequer, Alistair Darling, who delivers his first Pre-Budget Report today. The PBR, which is traditionally delivered in November, is intended as a precursor to the Budget itself and gives an update on the state of the nation's finances as well as announcing proposed new tax measures.

Folkestone Remembers: Join the Remembrance Sunday Service

Folkestone salutes its debt to those who fought for their country at the Town's service and parade which takes place on Remembrance Sunday, 11 November, at the Folkestone War Memorial at the top of Folkestone's Road of Remembrance. All Folkestone residents are invited to pay their respects at the ceremony starting at 10.40am, which includes the traditional Silence and Wreath Laying at the War Memorial, followed by a short Service.

Will Shepway Suffer at Labour's Hands in Spending Review?

In the Comprehensive Spending Review (CSR) announced later today, the Chancellor Alistair Darling is expected to announce that local government expenditure is expected to be squeezed. Ahead of the CSR the Local Government Association has warned that without additional funding for local government and care of the elderly, council tax bills will have to rise.
