David judging the competition

Judging the Scarecrow Festival

Over the weekend of 13/14th June Fornham All Saints held a very successful Scarecrow Festival, and Cllr David Chappell was asked to judge the scarecrows, together with Cllr Bob Cockle - Deputy Mayor of St Edmundsbury Council. Residents showed great ingenuity and skill in creating the many scarecrows on display throughout the village.

Robin + drugs needles

Councillor Robin Lawrence deals with Chapel Ash drug needles

Councillor Robin Lawrence was in Chapel Ash at the junction of Tettenhall Road and Compton Road and as he walked past the public telephone box he spotted a drugs needle on the ground. Closer inspection showed there were several more inside the phone box. He immediately contacted the appropriate Council department for urgent action.

New Waste Charges a Disgrace' say Lib Dems.

Rochdale MP Paul Rowen has hit out at that the decision to increase waste charges across Greater Manchester as a disgrace. Paul was commenting after it was confirmed that waste charges for small businesses are going up. In a letter to businesses, staff at tips said, "From June 15th 2009 a change will be introduced at this and all our facilities at which trade waste is accepted. This will mean that you will be charged a minimum price for half a tonne of waste even if your load weighs less."
