Liberal Democrats dominated the results in last week’s local elections in Hertfordshire.
The Liberal Democrats gained 13 seats to end up with 23 seats out of 70. They are now the joint largest group on West Sussex County Council (with Reform) which has been controlled by the Conservatives since 1997.
The results are in, and I want to offer my huge congratulations to Lib Dem Campaigners across South East Region.
In the first elections to West Surrey Council, the Liberal Democrats won 56 of 90 seats, securing control. West Surrey is made up of the council areas of Spelthorne, Runnymede, Surrey Heath, Woking, Guildford and Waverley.
In the first elections to East Surrey Council, the Liberal Democrats won 40 of 72 seats, securing control. East Surrey is made up of the council areas of Elmbridge, Epsom & Ewell, Mole Valley, Reigate & Banstead and Tandridge.
In the only elections in Kent on 7th May, the Liberal Democrats gained three seats to further strengthen their control of Tunbridge Wells Borough Council. The Lib Dems now hold 25 of 39 Councillors in the borough, and Mike Martin MP was elected in 2024.
